 Mid-America Orthopedics is accepting resumes for a full-time medical assistant to join our dynamic team. Qualified applicants must have a minimum 1-2 years’ experience in a clinical or hospital setting. Podiatry or orthopedic experience is a plus. Must be proficient in medical terminology and possess a strong aptitude for multi-tasking in a fast paced environment. Must have excellent customer service skills and be results driven.

Travel: This position will travel between our Wichita and Derby locations
Job Summary:  Functions in a clinical support role which includes preparing patients to see the providers, facilitate tests and paperwork as needed, and assists with clinical duties as directed.
Essential Functions and Basic Duties:

  • Vitals and biometrics to include: blood pressure, pulse, height/ weight
  • Eye exams associated with DOT physicals
  • Injection and blood draws
  • Suture, pin and cast removal, brace fittings
  • Calls in prescription refills and dispenses meds in accordance with MAO physician orders
  • Ensures all appropriate paperwork is in chart prior to being seen by the provider
  • Proper completion of patient forms to include: disability, restrictions and requisitions
  • Assist with other clinical duties as directed


 This position provides primary support for one provider and is responsible for typing the physician's notes during the patient appointment. This position will have also have Medical Assistant duties. Travel between offices is required and hours range from 30-40 per week. Must have 2-3 years experience working in a clinical setting. Must be able to type 45-50 words a minute with accuracy. Orthopedic experience preferred. A registered medical assistant or certified nurses aid is preferred.


 Busy orthopedic office seeking a candidate with experience in medical billing, with a solid understanding of Medicare and Medicaid insurance as well as ability to collect self-pay balances. Experience in out-patient medical office billing required. Must be detail oriented and possess the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.


Essential Functions and Basic Duties:

  •  Respond timely to requests for missing information either by phone or fax
  • Posts all mailed-in patient payments
  • Review charts for presence of accurate and complete billing information
  • Performs chart audits related to complete information; provides feedback to office manager
  • Processes billings to third party payors. Maintains supporting documentation for submitted claims
  • Processes patient statements. Verifies accuracy of patient balances, insurance and patient payment postings
  • Researches problem accounts. Follows up with the third party payors and communicates with the patients
  • Follows up on submitted claims, monitors unpaid claims and resubmissions as necessary to ensure timely payment
  • Participates in the development of departmental processes
  • Ensures strict confidentiality of financial records
  • Research payments and process refunds as needed on credit balance accounts
  • Responds to telephone inquiries from patients regarding their account questions
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
