Affiliate Dr. Kelly OwnPhysical Medicine & Rehabilitation Spine Care
In October 2017, we welcomed Dr. Kelly Own to Mid-America Orthopedics Kansas City. Dr. Own brings his specialty of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation to our practice.
Dr. Own joins us from Southern California and is excited to make Kansas City home. Dr. Own received his Bachelors of Science in Biology from the University of California Los Angeles and went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine degree from the St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. He completed his residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Wayne State University/Oakwood Hospital in Taylor, Michigan. He then completed fellowship training in Spine Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Center for Spine Health in Cleveland, Ohio.
Dr. Own is treating patients at our premier location in Leawood. He specializes in the non-operative management of spine disorders, non-opioid pain management, musculoskeletal injuries, and therapeutic exercise. He has extensive training and expertise in performing interventional spine procedures such as epidurals, facet joint injections, medial branch nerve blocks, radiofrequency neurotomy, sacroiliac joint injections, and peripheral joint injections.
Dr. Own also has expertise in electromyography and nerve conduction studies (EMG/NCS), which he utilizes to evaluate symptoms of numbness, pain, incoordination, or weakness to help make an accurate diagnosis.
Dr. Own employs a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, working in close synergy with the physical therapy team at Mid-America Orthopedics. Dr. Own’s primary goal is to empower his patients and help them improve their physical, psychological, social and vocational function.
