Afton Beard graduated from The University of Kansas in 2006 with a degree in Athletic training. As an athletic training student, Afton worked two seasons of KU football, one season of KU volleyball, and was selected to be a first responder with KU cheerleading. Following her completion of KU’s athletic training program, Afton was honored as KU’s athletic training student of the year. Post-graduation, Afton relocated for a one-year internship as an athletic trainer for Wichita State University Track and Field. In addition, she provided athletic training services for the 2006 National Baseball Congress World Series. After the completion of her 1-year internship, Afton enrolled in Wichita State University’s Physical Therapy Program. One of her fondest memories as a PT student was observing open heart surgery and then working with that patient post-operatively at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. Afton graduated in 2010 from the WSU Doctorate of Physical Therapy program.

Afton has been working with Mid-America Orthopedics since 2010 and is well versed in evaluation and treatment of orthopedic, sport related, and neurological conditions.

In addition to working with MAO, she has gained valuable work experience at several local hospitals, assisted-living facilities, and rehabilitation centers. Afton absolutely loves being a physical therapist and helping MAO patients achieve their ultimate goals.
